The flag of Fiji is light blue with a Union Jack and national coat of arms.

The blue refers to the ocean. The dove in the coat of arms symbolises peace. The golden lion holding a coconut represents Britain, as does the red cross of St George of England in the middle of the emblem. This relates to the colonial past of Fiji.

Rugby is a very popular Fijian sport and the flag is often seen at international games. It is also hoisted on Fiji Independence Day on October 10th.
