The Djibouti flag represents this small country of eastern Africa. It features blue and green stripes, with an intersecting white triangle and a red star.
The colours used can be seen to symbolise the earth (green), the sea and sky (blue) and peace (white), with the red star representing unity. The 5 points of the star also signify the areas that Somalis live in - British Somaliland (Republic of Somaliland/Somalia), Italian Somaliland (Somalia), French Somaliland (Djibouti), Ogaden (Ethiopia) and Northeastern Kenya.
The flag is waved during Independence Day on June 27th, signifying the end of French rule in 1977.
