The Denmark flag is the flag of the Danish and like the Austrian is almost square in shape. The cross is a Scandanavian Cross representing Christianity. The Denmark flag is alternatively known as the Dannebrog ("Danish Cloth") and is widely accepted as being the oldest continually used state flag in existence, dating back possibly over 800 years. Legend has it that in 1219, during the Battle of Lyndanisse, also known as the Battle of Valdemar, the flag fell from the sky resulting in Danish victory!
It was the bluprint for all the other Nordic flags of Sweden, Norway, Finland and Iceland. Traditional flag flying days are May 5th (Liberation Day) and June 15th (Valdemar Day).
