The Canada Flag is the national flag of Canada and is also known as The Maple Leaf and in French as L'Unifolie. The leaf is on a white background, framed either side by red and was inspired by Canadian battalion flags and is said to represent the rich Canadian environment and nature.

The eleven point of the Maple do not represent anything specific and were selected only because it was shown they created the least blurry image under high wind conditions.

The current flag was only adopted in 1965 following many years of flags incorporating the Union Jack in some respects.

The Canadian flag features prominently in winter sports, particularly at the Winter Olympics where Canada historically does very well. It is also used in pop culture with characters such as Captain Canuck using it as their costume.
