The Afghanistan flag is the flag for the country of Afghanistan. It was adopted by the Transitional Islamic State of Aghanistan's transitional government in 2004, following the defeat of the Taliban. It consists of three stripes of black, red and green. The central emblem is of a mosque with a prayer mat facing mecca, surrounded by an Arabic religious inscription.
